Somebody that I Used to Know

One of the most interesting songs I've heard recently was Gotye's "Somebody that I used to know" featuring Kimbra. The song is a mid-tempo indie pop song and tells about a relationship that gone bad. There are many songs like that but there's an amazing difference here: the other part replies the broken heart argument...  he is sad but she is sad too (what makes the song maybe perfect). What about the video?

Pop Art Latina

In Brazil is quite common to follow (or hear from) American or European trends, what sometimes doesn't go to our Latin American neighbors. I'm sure it's plenty of talented artists here, but I'm writing about two: the incredible Fabian Ciraolo and his "hipster" art, and the amazing fellow countryman painter Romero Britto and their Pop Art Latina...

Augusto Monterroso: buena conciencia y oveja negra

20 great books to read

Some days ago I found an interesting list by The Guardian, which comprised the 100 Best Books of All Time according to many critics. Of course the "all time" is still going on, but it's anyway a great list with writers from almost everywhere in the world. I chose 20 books out of their whole list.

There's plenty of good books to read (from classical books to dystopias). The first 10 books I have already read or heard of, and they are really amazing, the last 10 I really want to read!

15 Latin American Writers and Their Masterpieces

Since I posted something about some books I most like or I want to read the most, I've kept thinking who could be the best writers of Latin America... Of course there is no a right answer, every one can pick the writers whose books have more in common with their personalities or wishes and so on.

So I decided to look for some good writers. It was not an easy task, but I found 15 great Latin American writers eventually. I based my list on The Guardian's, on the 501 Great Writers', on the 1001 Books you must read before you die's list, and on The Western Canon by Harold Bloom

In the 1001 Books... there are sometimes more than one book by the writers selected below, sometimes there's none... that's because the criteria used by the publishers are different. I've tried to pick the books that were in common in every list. In some cases I couldn't find a book for the autor (the case of Casares), I researched in the web for a book considered good by other critics different from those I cited above. In alphabetical order the outcome of my research:
